Afghanistan Visa

First of all, there isn’t any tourist visa from Saudi. Only visit visa which requires an invitation letter from a person in Afghanistan and a clearance from the Ministry of Interior which may take time.

Personal Experience: I did not have much time to wait for a clearance from MOI. So I tried my luck in Pakistan instead where I got my visa in a day.

Personal Experience: I visited the counter at 9:30 where I had to explain my purpose of visit in order to get the application form. I went to Yemen Embassy in Islamabad and requested for the No Objection Certificate. I submitted in the application form along with passport and Pakistan visa copy, No Objection Certificate and 1 passport photo. I also paid the urgent visa fee in order to get it on the same day. It was very simple and easy.

Algeria Visa

Employment Letter authenticated by Chamber of Commerce (If your iqama is issued from a different city than your actual residence, make sure to include that you are working from the city that you are in – My iqama is issued in Riyadh, they didn’t want to accept my application in Jeddah, luckily my employment letter mentions that I work in Jeddah)

Personal Experience: I asked an Algerian friend to send an invite and I got my visa in 2 days! I would highly recommend getting an invitation from an Algerian and stamped by the Municipality in Algeria. Otherwise, it’s very difficult for Yemenis.

Denied Entry in Tunisia

I’ve dealt with many visa refusals but this is probably the worst one of all.

Tunisia says that GCC residents can get visa on arrival.

What they fail to mention is that “yes, fly in to Tunisia and we will check with Ministry of Interior for clearance, if you’re clear then go ahead, if not, fly back where you came from or spend the days at what feels like a rejection center; transit area”

I traveled from far West of Algeria to Far East only to be turned back around, got questioned, and wrote a statement of why Algeria had to annul my exit.

In the statement that the police wrote, it mentioned explicitly that they advised me to get visa on arrival from the airport and it cannot be obtained from the border.

Drove all the way back to the capital of Algeria, bought my ticket which costs a fortune. Because traveling from one country to another in Africa costs 4 times more than traveling from Africa》Europe》Back to Africa.

A friend flew to Spain for 60USD while I paid 170USD to a neighboring country that requires only 6 hours of driving.

Spent the night at the airport because I was wrecked after 31 hours on the road.

Went through 4 counters that checked my documentation;

“Do you have a visa? No.

You live in Saudi? Yes.

Show us iqama. *Gave my ID

Okay, no need visa.”

Arrived in Tunis Airport 》 Visa Section 》 Filled up Arrival Card 》 They said; “Have a seat, we will come to you when it’s ready”

I watched at least 6 airlines full of passengers come and go through the immigration, 3 hours passed and nothing yet.

At the 4th hour, he said “Get your bag, let’s go” as he head to the transit area.

Then and there, I knew I didn’t get the visa.

I broke down for the fifth time since I started the journey trying to go to Tunisia. Yes, I cry in public a lot during difficult times while traveling.

They tried to convince me with “We tried our best but it’s not in our hand, we don’t know why they denied your visa”

Man, I’ve been denied way too many times to know that they need to state why my entry was denied. For all I know, they didn’t even file me to the Ministry of Interior. Heck I’m not a criminal.

Did I forget to mention that they asked if I’m with or against Houthis? They also tried to joke around about our former president but I know so little about Yemen that I didn’t even know who they were talking about. I think they wanted to know how much involved I am with the political situation there which I clearly mentioned in the police statement that I dont have any political interest or involvement.

I wasn’t going to spend 6 days in the airport and I wasn’t going to let them fly me back to Algeria because I would need to buy another ticket back to Tunis since my return flight to Saudi is from Tunis after 6 days.

I couldve explored more of Algeria had I known this unclear procedure of the so called “visa on arrival” BS.

Instead, I changed my ticket to an earlier date and spent another night at the “rejection center”

There were other passengers denied entry as well, French, Egyptians, Moroccan, a Swiss and Kosovan family included. They were a young family with a toddler. They couldn’t be anywhere close to being a criminal but denied entry.

A French man was forced and pulled to leave because he demanded a statement why his entry is denied.

So we had a nice sleepover at the airport with our backs unevenly bent on the unpadded steel seats. But oh well, this isn’t supposed to be a luxury anyway.

Countries that Refuse Admission to Yemeni Passport Holders

Holding a Yemeni passport and want to visit the following countries? Let me know if you ever manage to get through since they refuse admission to all Yemeni passport holders.

Iran – We were eligible for visa on arrival until it suddenly changed to Admission Refused recently in 2018.
Kuwait – Regardless of your GCC residence status. I am a GCC resident but I am still not allowed to enter Kuwait
Libya
The United States – We all know why 🙂

I hope the list ends right here and for the above countries to soon lift the ban on Yemenis.

Visa Refusals

Here’s a list of my visa refusals by far and I hope the list ends here!

It’s not something I am proud of but it’s not something that would stop me from traveling and continuously try.

I also want to keep track of them in order to avoid forgetting any of the refusals in my future visa applications. The list keeps getting longer and it could easily be forgotten.

I forgot one of my visa refusals while applying for a visa to Ireland which cost me with another refusal.

1. Sweden (2015) – Sweden was not satisfied that I genuinely intend to stay temporarily and return to Saudi Arabia

2. The United Kingdom (2016) – The UK was not satisfied that I genuinely intend to stay temporarily and return to Saudi Arabia

3. Armenia (2017) – Refused online but received on arrival

4. The United Kingdom (2017) – The UK was not satisfied that I genuinely intend to stay temporarily and return to Saudi Arabia

5. Ireland (2017) – I have previously acquired one, this one was refused because I forgot to mention one of the countries who refused my visa and they didn’t believe that it slipped my mind.

6. Syria (2017) – The embassy doesn’t believe Tourism as a valid reason, hence they rejected my documents and did not submit them to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Syria

7. New Zealand (2018) – New Zealand was not satisfied that I genuinely intend to stay temporarily and return to Saudi Arabia

8. Australia (2018) – Australia was not satisfied that I genuinely intend to stay temporarily and return to Saudi Arabia

9. Iran (2018) – The embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Iran does not know the reason for my visa refusal.

Personal Experience: I had to visit the consulate two times because they were not clear on the requirements even though I had also called them in advance. You have to visit the consulate and submit the mentioned documents in person after applying online.

Common Visa Application Mistakes

I’ve had my share of many visa refusals.

I’m going to list down the mistakes I’ve made and heard of so hopefully others won’t make the same mistake.

1. Filling an Application – Sometimes, we take applications too lightly that we miss or forget a piece of information. Be completely thorough and recheck at least 3 times.

My Irish visa got refused because I listed 2 out of 3 visa refusals. It was an honest mistake but they didn’t accept my appeal.

2. Dummy Hotel Booking – Cancel the booking only after the visa application process is completed.

My UK application got refused due to canceling the booking whilst the visa was under process and many other reasons.

3. Numer of Entries – It’s the simplest yet might be overlooked.

I had completely forgotten to apply for multiple entries until I have exited the country I needed to return to. I ended having to waste time and money in a different country applying for a new visa.

4. Bank Statement – Avoid one-time big deposit without clarification. Deposit over time or ask the bank to specify the big deposit is from Personal Savings to avoid unclarified cash deposit.

If you happen to have difficulty in obtaining visas such as me with a passport rank of the bottom 6 in the world; writing a letter helps!

Below is a template letter that I have used when applying for my visa and it has proven to be successful most times.
